Work out how many rolls a room takes, allowing for the pattern repeat, which is what usually catches people out.
Your details
Measure the room and check the roll.

In centimetres. Nought for a plain paper.
In metres. Usually 10.05.
In centimetres. Usually 53.
The pattern repeat is the whole problem
With a plain paper the sum is simple. With a patterned paper, every drop has to begin at the same point in the design, so the offcut at the top of each drop is wasted. A thirty-two centimetre repeat on a 2.4 metre wall can easily turn four rolls into five.
Standard rolls
A standard British roll is 10.05 metres long and 53 centimetres wide, which gives four full drops on a normal ceiling height and three where the repeat is large. Always check the roll you are buying, as imported papers vary.
