L-shaped rooms
The simplest way to measure an awkward room is to treat it as the rectangle it would have been, then take off the rectangle that is missing from the corner. That is far more reliable than trying to split it into pieces and add them up, and it is how this calculator handles it.
Metres, feet and yards
Carpet is still often sold in square yards and flooring in square metres, while older house plans are in feet. All three are shown so that a quote in one can be checked against a measurement in another.
