Comparing two offers properly
An hourly rate and a salary are only comparable once the hours are known. A salary of £32,000.00 for a 37.5-hour week is worth about £16.41 an hour; the same salary for a 45-hour week is worth about £13.68. Overtime, unpaid lunch breaks and expected unpaid extra hours all move the real figure, and are worth asking about directly.
