Redundancy pay calculator
Statutory redundancy pay depends on your age, how many full years you have worked for the employer and your weekly pay, capped at £751.
Rates and rules used: Weekly pay cap of £751 and maximum of £22,530 from 6th April 2026; age bands of under 22, 22 to 40 and 41 or over; last 20 years only. Sources: GOV.UK redundancy pay. Checked 16th September 2026. Rates are updated whenever the rules change, and checked at least every April.
How statutory redundancy pay is worked out
You get half a week's pay for each full year worked while under 22, one week's pay for each full year worked from 22 to 40, and one and a half weeks' pay for each full year worked at 41 or over. Only the last 20 years count, and weekly pay is capped at £751 from 6th April 2026, so the most anyone can get is £22,530.
You need at least two years' continuous service. Many employers pay more under the contract. The first £30,000 of a redundancy payment is usually free of income tax.
